Train kills five in Vietnam

HANOI (AP): A speeding train slammed into a passenger bus in central Vietnam, killing five people and wounding ten others, police reported yesterday.

The bus in Binh Dinh province, about 200 kilometers south of the central city of Danang, was passing over a rail crossing Sunday when the train hit the vehicle broadside.

Two bus passengers were killed instantly and three others died later of injuries sustained in the collision, a police officer said in a telephone interview.

Another ten passengers were hospitalized with injuries. Police said the bus driver's view of the railway was obscured by a row of houses built too close to the tracks.
