Train derails, blocks railroad

SEMARANG: The north coastal railroad came to a standstill for almost four hours on Tuesday after an executive train serving the Jakarta-Surabaya route skidded off the tracks in Tegal regency, Central Java.

The accident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. at the Tegal railway station and the railroad resumed to normal four hours later, said Suprapto, state railway operator PT KAI spokesman for operation region IV in Semarang.

He said the ill-fated Argo Anggrek train was traveling from Surabaya to Jakarta when it derailed. --Antara
