Train Departures in KAI Jember Return to Schedule
Train departures in the PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or KAI Daop 9 Jember region, have returned to normal and on schedule following the incident involving the Bangunkarta train on the Jombang-Pasar Senen route, which derailed in Bumiayu, Central Java, on Monday, 6 April 2026. KAI Jember stated that both upstream and downstream tracks in the area have been restored and can now be traversed by trains at permitted speeds.
Manager of Law and Public Relations for KAI Daop 9 Jember, Cahyo Widiantoro, said that KAI’s primary focus is to ensure all tracks can be safely traversed, allowing train services to resume normally. Track and bridge unit personnel have reinforced the rail construction after the evacuation to guarantee travel safety.
In the KAI Daop 9 Jember region specifically, all train departures are operating normally with no cancellations. “We ensure that all train departures today in KAI Daop 9 Jember continue to run smoothly and on time. This demonstrates KAI’s commitment to maintaining operational reliability across all service lines,” Cahyo stated on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.
Cahyo added that all train services continue to operate according to their designated routes, without any track changes or diversions. “All train services continue to run on normal lines, without any detour routes. Thus, passengers need not worry about any service changes, and we will continue to provide updates on train travel information,” he further said.
Nevertheless, some trains arriving in the KAI Daop 9 Jember region experienced delays during the track recovery and operational resumption. On Tuesday, 7 April 2026, the Wijayakusuma train arrived at Ketapang Station at 07:30, 112 minutes late, and the Blambangan Express arrived at 07:05 WIB, 144 minutes late.
KAI has extended apologies to all passengers for any inconvenience caused by the incident at Bumiayu Station platform. “We apologise for the incident. KAI continues to strive for quick and precise handling to maintain the safety and comfort of train travel,” Cahyo explained.
KAI also urged all passengers to remain calm and not be swayed by unverified information. The company is committed to ongoing innovations and service improvements to realise safe, comfortable, and secure train journeys.
“We will continue to implement various innovations and enhancements in terms of travel safety and security. This is our top priority in providing the best service to the public,” Cahyo concluded.
