Train Departures in Jember on Schedule After KA Bangunkarta Derailment

Jember, East Java (ANTARA) - Departures of several trains in the Jember Operational Area (Daop) 9, East Java, on Tuesday, are confirmed to be on schedule following the derailment incident of KA 161 Bangunkarta in Bumiayu, Brebes Regency, Central Java, on Monday (6/4). “Currently, the upstream and downstream tracks in that area have been restored and can be traversed by trains at the permitted speed, which also impacts train departures in Jember,” said the Legal and Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 9, Cahyo Widiantoro, in Jember on Tuesday. He stated that KAI’s focus is to ensure all tracks can be safely traversed so that train services return to normal. Personnel from the rail and bridge unit have reinforced the track construction after evacuation to guarantee the safety of train travel. “We ensure that all train departures today in Daop 9 Jember continue to run smoothly and on schedule. This demonstrates KAI’s commitment to maintaining operational reliability across all service lines,” he added. Cahyo explained that all train services continue to operate according to the designated routes, without any track changes or route diversions. “All KA services continue to run on normal lines, without any circuitous routes. Thus, passengers do not need to worry about any travel changes, and we will continue to provide updates on train travel information,” he said. Nevertheless, he continued, there were some delays in trains arriving in the Daop 9 Jember area during the track recovery and operations, such as KA Wijayakusuma and KA Blambangan Ekspres. “On Tuesday, KA Wijayakusuma arrived at Ketapang Station at 07:30 WIB, or delayed by about 112 minutes, and KA Blambangan Ekspres arrived at Ketapang Station at 07:05 WIB, or delayed by 144 minutes,” he stated. KAI has expressed apologies to all passengers for any inconvenience that may arise due to the KA Bangunkarta derailment incident at the Bumiayu Station platform.
