Train Crash Victim: Nurlela, the Dedicated Primary School Teacher
Nurlela, a teacher at SDN Pulogebang 11 in East Jakarta, died in a train accident that occurred in East Bekasi on Monday evening, 27 April 2026. The Jakarta Provincial Government and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education have expressed their condolences.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo expressed deep sorrow over Nurlela’s death. “The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will fully support the victim’s family, both in funeral arrangements and psychological recovery,” said Pramono’s spokesperson, Chico Hakim, in a statement on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.
For Pramono, according to Chico, Nurlela was a highly dedicated educator who contributed to enlightening the nation’s next generation. The Jakarta Provincial Government apparatus also requested prayers and public support so that the families of the accident victims are granted strength.
Head of the Jakarta Education Office, Nahdiana, also expressed condolences. According to Nahdiana, Nurlela was a dedicated figure in the world of education.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mrs Nurlela, one of our dedicated teachers. On behalf of the entire extended family of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Education Office, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family,” said Nahdiana.
Kemdikdasmen also expressed condolences. “Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. The extended family of the Directorate General of Teachers and Education Personnel (Ditjen GTK) joins in deep sorrow over the passing of Mrs Nurlaila, an exemplary teacher from SDN Pulo Gebang 11, East Jakarta,” as posted on the Ditjen GTK Instagram account, @ditjen.gtk.kemdikbud, on Tuesday.
The post prayed for Nurlela to have a good end and for the bereaved family to be granted continuous strength and resilience. Nurlela was also described as an unsung hero.
“Her tireless dedication in undertaking long journeys every day to educate the nation’s children will always be remembered as an extraordinary form of service,” the post stated.
The number of victims in the collision between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train on the Gambir–Surabaya Pasar Turi route and the Commuter Line or Electric Rail Train (KRL) on the Kampung Bandan-Cikarang route continues to rise. The incident occurred exactly at East Bekasi Station, Bekasi City, on Monday, 27 April 2026, around 20:57 WIB.
President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or PT KAI, Bobby Rasyidin, stated that the number of fatalities from the accident has increased to 14 people. “The deceased victims have been taken to Kramat Jati Police Hospital for further identification,” said Bobby in his statement on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.
Meanwhile, the number of lightly and seriously injured victims has also increased to 84 people. All victims have been evacuated to nearby health facilities for further medical treatment.
All deceased and injured victims are known to be passengers from the KRL train. Meanwhile, the 240 passengers of the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek were all successfully evacuated in safe condition.
