The Government, through the Ministry of Transportation and the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA), has relaunched the Free Motorcycle Homecoming (Motis) programme during the 2026 Eid transportation period.

Through this programme, a total of 11,900 motorcycles and 28,196 passengers will depart from 13-19 March 2026, with return transport services running from 24-30 March.

The programme has been designed as a safer travel alternative for people who typically use motorcycles for long-distance journeys. Under the implementation scheme, homebound travellers can deposit their motorcycles to be transported by train, whilst continuing their journey as passengers on the passenger train to their destination city.

Motorcycles deposited by travellers are transported twice daily at 23:00 and 05:00 Western Indonesian Time.

For Eid 2026, the Motis service will operate across three major routes: the Northern Route, Central Route, and Southern Route. The addition of the Southern Route represents an expansion of the service following its previous limitation to the Northern and Central routes.

Registration for the 2026 Eid Motis programme opened on 1 March 2026 through the official Ministry of Transportation website and directly at designated railway stations.

Participants are required to prepare valid identification documents including a national identity card (KTP), driving licence (SIM), and vehicle registration certificate (STNK). Vehicles eligible for transport are limited to motorcycles with a maximum engine capacity of 200cc due to train carriage capacity constraints.
