Metro Jaya Police Chief Irjen Asep Edi Suheri stated that three victims died in the train accident involving a long-distance train and a KRL at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi City. Currently, the carriage is being cut to facilitate the evacuation process.

“Yes, the carriage body is being cut by Basarnas,” said Asep Edi at the location on Monday (27/4/2026).

Asep mentioned that there are still about seven passengers trapped inside the carriage. He said most of the victims are KRL passengers.

“The priority is assistance to the victims,” he said.

“Meanwhile, the majority (of victims) are from the KRL,” he added.

KAI Speaks Out

KAI commented on the accident. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, said the KRL that was hit had stopped after being blocked by a taxi.

“So the KRL had a taxi blocking it at the JPL (Direct Crossing Path) near Bulak Kapal, which caused the KRL to stop,” said KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager Franoto Wibowo, when contacted on Monday (27/4/2026).

After that, the KRL’s movement stopped. Franoto said the KRL was then hit by the KA Argo Bromo.

“The KRL stopped, and behind it was the Argo Bromo train,” he added.
