Train and Flight Ticket Discounts for School Holidays and Christmas-New Year, Save the Dates

The Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, announced that the government has allocated a budget of Rp 1.54 trillion for transport ticket discount programmes during the school holiday and Christmas and New Year (Nataru) periods to support public mobility.

He detailed that during the school holiday period, the government will provide a 30 per cent discount on train tickets from 20 June to 5 July 2026. Additionally, there will be a 30 per cent discount on basic ship fares from 20 June to 15 August 2026, as well as the waiver of ASDP port service fees from 20 June to 5 July 2026.

“The total budget allocation is Rp 190.5 billion, targeting 3 million passengers,” said Dudy during a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in Jakarta on Monday, 22 June 2026.

Furthermore, the government is providing a 100 per cent Government-Borne Value Added Tax (PPN DTP) incentive for domestic economy-class flight tickets. This programme has a budget allocation of Rp 472.7 billion, aiming to reach 2.3 million passengers.

For the Nataru period, the government will again provide a 30 per cent discount on train tickets from 22 December 2026 to 4 January 2027. This will be accompanied by a 30 per cent discount on basic ship fares from 17 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, and the waiver of ASDP port service fees from 22 December 2026 to 10 January 2027.

“The total allocation is Rp 161.4 billion, with a target of 2.8 million passengers,” he added.

The 100 per cent PPN DTP incentive will also be reapplied to domestic economy-class flight tickets, with a budget of Rp 722 billion and a target of 3.7 million passengers during the Nataru period.

With these various programmes, the total budget prepared by the government for transport incentives and discounts across these two major periods reaches Rp 1.54 trillion.

“The total budget for transport initiatives and discounts during these two major momentum periods, both the school holidays and Nataru, amounts to Rp 1.54 trillion,” he concluded.
