Train and Flight Ticket Discounts for School Holidays and Christmas-New Year, Save the Dates

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi announced that the government has allocated a budget of Rp1.54 trillion for a transport ticket discount programme during the school holiday and Christmas and New Year (Nataru) periods to support public mobility. He detailed that during the school holiday period, the government will provide a 30% discount on train tickets from 20 June to 5 July 2026. Additionally, there will be a 30% discount on the base fare for ships from 20 June to 15 August 2026, and a waiver of port service fees for ASDP from 20 June to 5 July 2026. “The total budget allocation is Rp190.5 billion, targeting 3 million passengers,” Dudy said at a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in Jakarta on Monday, 22 June 2026. Furthermore, the government is providing a 100% Government-borne Value Added Tax (PPN DTP) incentive for domestic economy class flight tickets. This programme has a budget allocation of Rp472.7 billion, aiming to reach 2.3 million passengers. For the Nataru period, the government will again offer a 30% discount on train tickets from 22 December 2026 to 4 January 2027, a 30% discount on ship base fares from 17 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, and a waiver of ASDP port service fees from 22 December 2026 to 10 January 2027. “The total allocation is Rp161.4 billion with a target of 2.8 million passengers,” he stated. The 100% PPN DTP incentive will also be reapplied for domestic economy class flight tickets with a budget of Rp722 billion and a target of 3.7 million passengers during the Nataru period. With these various programmes, the total budget prepared by the government for transport incentives and discounts during these two major periods reaches Rp1.54 trillion.
