Trail of the Karo District Prosecutor: Scrutinised over the Amsal Sitepu Case, Now Loses Position
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The controversy surrounding the handling of the case involving videographer Amsal Christy Sitepu has escalated significantly.
The Head of the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office (Kajari), Danke Rajagukguk, has been officially removed from his position after being summoned to the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) of the Republic of Indonesia for an internal examination.
Attorney General ST Burhanuddin carried out the mutation of Danke Rajagukguk through Attorney General’s Decree Number KEP-IV-347/C/04/2026 dated 13 April 2026.
Danke’s position as Kajari Karo is now filled by Edmond Novvery Purba, who previously served as Kajari for South Nias.
He explained that Danke no longer holds a structural position.
“For Ms Danke in Karo, she has been diagonally mutated, meaning she is not in a structural position but in a functional one for the time being. And this is common in ministries/institutions,” Anang told reporters on Monday (13/4/2026).
According to him, mutations within the prosecution environment are commonplace.
The examination is being conducted as part of an internal audit regarding the handling of the case, which was deemed irregular.
Not only Danke, but Kejagung also summoned the Head of the Special Crimes Section (Kasi Pidsus) of the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office, Reinhard Harve Sembiring, as well as two public prosecutors (JPU) who handled the case.
“On Saturday night, both the Kajari Karo, Kasi Pidsus, and the two deputy section heads handling the case—the prosecutors involved—have been secured and pulled by the Attorney General’s Intelligence Team,” Anang said.
Those prosecutors are also suspected of carrying out intimidation and acting unprofessionally in the case handling process.
Danke and the team at the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office came under public scrutiny following the viral social media attention on the alleged corruption case of videographer Amsal Sitepu.
