Trail of Fire Devastation in Sade Traditional Village, 120 Buildings Burned Down
A fire struck Sade Traditional Village in Rembitan, Pujut District, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday (23/8/2026). The blaze, which began at around 8.00 pm local time on Saturday (22/8), destroyed 120 buildings in the traditional village area.
Most of the buildings were constructed from highly flammable materials such as wood, bamboo, woven bamboo walls, and thatched roofs, causing the fire to spread rapidly. Residents sifted through the debris to salvage any remaining belongings. No casualties were reported in the incident.
In addition to losing their homes and traditional structures, residents also suffered losses of goods and personal property that were consumed by the fire. Authorities are still compiling data on the total losses.
