Tragic: Elderly Resident in Cianjur Dies After Being Beaten by Neighbour for Stealing 2 Labu Siam

An elderly resident named Minta (56) died after being beaten by his neighbour, Ujang Ahmad (41). The assault is believed to have stemmed from the suspect’s anger over the victim allegedly stealing two labu siam from his garden. According to detikJabar, the incident occurred on the Saturday evening of 28 February, when the victim was spotted taking labu siam from the garden tended by the offender. The suspect pursued the victim to his home. After confrontation, Minta and Ujang argued. During the dispute, Ujang repeatedly punched the victim in various parts of the body — including the head, neck, face and chest — while demanding the victim admit to the theft of the labu siam from his garden, police said. The assault stopped when the victim’s sister and bystanders intervened. In a staggered condition after the beating, the victim admitted to taking two labu siam. The elderly man, who sustained numerous blows, was taken to hospital for intensive care. However, two days later he died at Cianjur Hospital.
