Tragic Death of Bekasi Toddler at Uncle’s Hands Uncovered

BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – The tragic fate of MAJ (2), a toddler raised by his grandmother in a rented house at Omah Seruni 99, Jatirangga Village, Jatisampurna District, Bekasi City, has unfolded. The child lost his life after being killed by his own uncle, SG (18), who claimed to have been angered while playing the online game Mobile Legends. The incident occurred on Wednesday (27/5/2026) evening and was only discovered when the victim’s grandmother, M (60), returned from selling cakes around 10 PM WIB. Upon arriving at the rental house, she found her grandson lifeless on the living room floor. SG was also found injured at the scene. However, investigators revealed that anger was not the sole motive cited by the suspect. According to Iqbal, SG admitted to hearing voices prior to the act. He even stated he wanted to meet God immediately. ‘Besides being angry, the suspect also confessed to hearing voices. He said he wanted to meet God soon,’ Iqbal said. Following this, SG, who has a history of mental illness, took a knife from the kitchen and attacked the victim. Post-mortem results from Kramat Jati Police Hospital showed the child suffered multiple sharp instrument wounds across his body. ‘At the time of the incident, the suspect had not taken his medication for two days. His mother also did not have money to buy medicine,’ Iqbal said. Nevertheless, police are still awaiting the psychiatric examination results to fully assess SG’s mental condition. ‘We have submitted the request for a psychiatric evaluation and are waiting for the results,’ he added.
