Tragic Condition of Woman in Bandung Held Captive by Boyfriend for Three Years

YTR (previously written as YTT) was allegedly abused and held captive by her boyfriend, identified by the initials TH, for three years in his rented room in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency, West Java. The 29-year-old woman suffered severe injuries, including being unable to see normally, a cleft lip, difficulty speaking, and an inability to walk. The alleged abuse case was reported by the family to the West Java Regional Police on Friday, 12 June 2026. The victim’s older sister, Melanie Silviani, said the victim is still receiving intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung City. “Infected wounds on her head and face have just been cleaned, because there is still pus fluid in her head,” Melanie said when contacted via short message, as reported by detikJabar on Thursday (18/6/2026). Melanie stated that further treatment for the victim will proceed once the pus fluid in her head has been completely cleared. “We are waiting for all of that to drain first, then further surgery to repair her shattered facial structure,” she revealed. According to her, the victim is the second of four siblings. Currently, the victim can communicate, but her voice is not yet clear. “She can, but it’s not clear yet,” she said. When asked about the first words spoken by the victim, Melanie mentioned that her younger sister apologised. “The first thing she said was to apologise,” she stated. Regarding the abuse and confinement experienced by the victim, Melanie said her sister was initially dishonest and tried to cover up what had happened to her. “When the doctor asked how she got her injuries, she cried and said she fell in the bathroom. Then, after a long time, she said she was tortured,” she explained.
