Tragic: Bogor Boy Killed by Hunting Dogs While Fishing
A tragic incident occurred in the forest area of Desa Sipak, Jasinga District, Bogor, on Sunday, 7 June 2026, resulting in the death of a nine-year-old boy identified as MAS. The victim was fishing with a friend when he was suddenly chased and attacked by four hunting dogs. At the same time, a wild boar hunting activity involving dozens of hunters was underway. One child survived the attack, while MAS succumbed to his injuries. Local residents discovered the victim’s body at approximately 11.30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time, with random wounds to the head.
The Bogor Resort Police have elevated the case to the investigation stage and named the dogs’ owner as the primary suspect. The suspect, identified by the initials Y, is a man whose identity card lists him as a Jakarta resident. He is charged under Article 474 paragraph 3 and/or Article 336 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. According to the Head of the Women and Children Protection/PPA Unit at Bogor Police, AKP Silfi Adi Putri, the suspected negligence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and/or a maximum fine. The negligence stems from the suspect releasing the hunting dogs from a distance without direct supervision, leaving him unaware of the animals’ movements until they attacked.
Investigators conducted intensive examinations of dozens of witnesses and gathered evidence to strengthen the case. A key piece of medical evidence found traces of the victim’s blood on the mouths of the suspect’s dogs. AKP Silfi Adi Putri confirmed that witness statements and the physical evidence on the dogs were crucial in establishing the case. The dog owner admitted the animals were his but claimed they had never previously attacked a human. The scale of the hunt was significant, with 43 wild boar hunters spread across a forest area of 10 to 20 hectares, each accompanied by their own dogs.
The incident triggered a strong reaction from the victim’s family. In a viral amateur video, the victim’s father directed his anger at a group of hunters. The situation at the scene became heated, with locals reportedly taking action against a vehicle transporting the hunting dogs. The suspect Y is currently undergoing intensive examination at the Bogor Police headquarters for further legal proceedings, and police continue to explore the possibility of other suspects in the case.
