Tragedy at a West Jakarta Billiards Hall: Young Man Dies After Being Attacked While Defending His Girlfriend

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A young man with the initials DM (28) suffered a tragic fate while trying to mediate an argument involving his girlfriend at a billiards hall in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, early Sunday morning (May 10, 2026).

DM died after being attacked by a group of people and is suspected of having been thrown from the second floor of the building.

The incident was recorded in several videos showing the commotion inside the billiards hall, eventually leading to the victim lying helpless and covered in blood in the parking area.

The commotion began when DM and his girlfriend were spending time playing billiards on the weekend.

Suddenly, DM’s girlfriend became involved in an argument with another woman at the location.

Seeing the situation escalating, DM took the initiative to intervene.

Instead of calming things down, DM became the target of a group of men at the location.

The victim’s sister, Mita, said that her brother only intended to defend his girlfriend.

“He was trying to help, or rather separate them, and then suddenly he was beaten up and attacked by more than 15 people,” Mita told Kompas.com via telephone on Friday (May 15, 2026).

More than 15 people allegedly indiscriminately beat DM on the second floor of the billiards hall.

Based on information received by the family from the victim’s girlfriend, the assault did not stop upstairs.

After being beaten, DM is strongly suspected of having been pushed from the second floor and falling to the ground floor.

“He was already beaten up like that, then he was pushed from the second floor. He was pushed again on the second floor, and after falling down, he was still stepped on,” said Mita.
