Traffic volume at Cikatama Toll Gate continues to rise during peak return flow
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Traffic volume at the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate (Cikatama) in Karawang, West Java, continued to increase on Tuesday night (24/3), with vehicles passing through towards Jakarta during the peak of the Lebaran 2026 return flow. According to data from PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT), on Tuesday (24/3), up to 23:46 WIB, there were 85,453 vehicles exiting the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate heading towards Jakarta. Vice President Corporate Secretary and Legal of PT Jasa Marga Trans Jawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paalo, stated that the increase in traffic volume from the Semarang direction at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate up to those passing through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate occurred around 20:00 WIB. “Indeed, seeing that the traffic volume has now risen, we observed that around 8-9 PM it had already reached 70,000 vehicles. So, it is quite high. We continue to monitor until the end of shift 3, which means tomorrow at 5 AM,” said Ria when met by ANTARA at the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate Office on Tuesday night (24/3). She added that this figure is predicted to continue increasing each day, considering Tuesday (24/3) is projected as the peak of the return flow. Previously, on Monday (23/3), 75,000 vehicles were recorded passing from shift 1 to shift 3. PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) has opened 26 toll booths at the Cikatama GT, in line with the implementation of the national one-way system from KM 414 at the Kalikangkung GT on the Batang-Semarang Toll Road to KM 70 on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road. “So, since the national one-way has reached the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate, we immediately adjusted situationally from 22 booths to 26,” Ria explained. Furthermore, she revealed that JTT is also implementing a two-lane contraflow system from KM 70 to KM 47 on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, as well as closing the rest area at KM 52 and opening and closing the rest area at KM 62. “So, we ensure that all road users are not hindered by queues entering the rest areas. Therefore, we urge road users to prepare their journeys in advance,” said Ria.
