Traffic Violation in Alphard vs Security Guard Case Handled by Metro Police
The alleged traffic violation in the altercation between a Toyota Alphard driver and a security guard at the pelican crossing near the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout in Central Jakarta is being handled by the Law Enforcement Sub-directorate (Subdit Gakkum) of the Metro Jaya Police’s Traffic Directorate. Menteng Metropolitan Police Chief, AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu, stated that his team has handed the matter over to Subdit Gakkum for further action. “Regarding the alleged traffic violation by the driver, this will be followed up tonight by the Traffic Subdit Gakkum of the Metro Jaya Police,” Braiel told reporters in Jakarta on Friday (24/7). Regarding the vehicle’s status, Braiel confirmed that the Alphard involved in the incident is a private vehicle, not an official police car. Meanwhile, the Menteng Police have deferred to the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate concerning the ticketing mechanism and technical process, including the investigation into the alleged use of fake number plates on the car. “For the technicalities of the ticketing, please communicate with the Head of Subdit Gakkum of the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate. What is clear is that it is a private car,” said Braiel. Beyond the traffic violation, the incident also drew attention due to alleged arrogant behaviour involving the car’s passenger or driver. Braiel confirmed that the party suspected of arrogance in the incident is an active police officer serving under the West Java Regional Police. Consequently, the handling of the alleged disciplinary and ethical violations by the officer has been handed directly to the Professional and Security Division (Propam). “Regarding the alleged acts of arrogance by the driver or passenger, this will also be followed up tonight by the Propam Sub-division of the West Java Police. The personnel is from the West Java Police,” he stressed.
