Traffic Police Chief Urges Returnees to Avoid Peak Return Traffic on 24 March: Utilise WFA
The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, stated that the peak of the return traffic in 2026 is predicted to occur on 24 March. He urged returnees to avoid travelling back on 24 March to prevent build-ups.
“And we urge the public, especially our colleagues who are currently in their hometowns, since the peak return is on the 24th, to please not return on that date, so that congestion does not occur,” said Inspector General Agus at the NTMC Polri, Jakarta, on Sunday (22/3/2026).
Inspector General Agus urged returnees to take advantage of the government’s Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy. He suggested that returnees return from their hometowns on 26 March or later.
“Please utilise work from anywhere on the 26th, 27th, 28th; it’s still work from anywhere. Perhaps you can return on the 26th, 27th,” he said.
The peak return traffic itself is predicted to occur in two waves, namely on 23 and 24 March or 28 and 29 March.
“Hopefully with these two stages, the return traffic on the 24th can then be managed well,” he said.
Inspector General Agus emphasised that his personnel continue to be in the field to maintain traffic flow during the 2026 Lebaran holidays. The Police personnel on duty are also expected to maintain their enthusiasm.
“All task forces, both Preventive Task Force, Law Enforcement Task Force, Assistance Task Force, including Public Relations, are all working and members are still in the field,” he stated.
