Traffic Police Chief Urges Online Motorbike Taxi Drivers to Become Road Safety Heroes
Bogor, VIVA – The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas Polri), Inspector General Agus Suryo Nugroho, greeted online motorbike taxi (ojol) drivers during the Polantas Menyapa event as part of the Road Safety Campaign in Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday, 6 May 2026. During the event, Kakorlantas urged the ojol drivers to become pioneers in road traffic safety.
“Today we gather and sit together, with only one interest: road traffic safety. Please foster good relations, set a good example on the road so that you truly become the road safety heroes,” said Agus.
In line with the instructions from the National Police Chief, the police continue to build closeness with the community, including ojol drivers who operate on the roads every day.
“The order from the Father Police Chief is to embrace the community, invite them to connect, discuss, and serve sincerely. Online motorbike taxis are friends of the National Police and friends of the Traffic Police,” he stated.
Kakorlantas emphasised that the current Traffic Police approach does not solely focus on law enforcement but also on a humanistic approach through communication and education to the public.
“We want to convey the message that safety is important. The Traffic Police approach is not merely about law enforcement, but also an approach with heart, fostering relations, and communication,” he explained.
Additionally, he stressed the important role of ojol drivers as strategic partners in campaigning for a culture of traffic discipline to the public.
“We have a big mission to campaign for road traffic safety. I do not want to hear that there are still ojol drivers violating traffic rules,” he asserted firmly.
