Jakarta — The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas), Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, stated that traffic flow remained adequately controlled during the first day of the 2026 Ketupat Operation on Friday.

“Today is the first day, so traffic conditions remain reasonably under control,” he said when met after the opening ceremony of the Integrated Lebaran Transport Central Command Post at the Ministry of Transportation Building in Central Jakarta on Friday.

Nevertheless, he noted an increase in traffic flow, particularly the volume of heavy vehicles, due to the implementation of a Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) concerning restrictions on cargo transport vehicles.

Under the decree, operational restrictions on cargo transport vehicles took effect from noon on Friday until Sunday, 29 March at midnight.

“Today we will continue to monitor to ensure that traffic flow on arterial roads and toll roads runs smoothly,” he said.

The two-star police general stated that the Ketupat Operation is not merely a traffic management operation but also a humanitarian operation.

“The Police Headquarters assures that conditions during the operation in the holy month of Ramadhan, Idul Fitri, and even Nyepi Day must be safe and conducive, both in terms of crime prevention and road security, safety, order, and traffic flow,” he said.

The 2026 Ketupat Operation will run for 13 days, from 13 March to 25 March 2026, involving 161,243 combined personnel.

The police have established 2,746 posts consisting of 1,624 security posts, 779 service posts, and 343 integrated posts serving as information centres and service points for the travelling public.

Security efforts will also focus on 185,607 locations including mosques, Idul Fitri prayer sites, tourist attractions, shopping centres, terminals, ports, railway stations, and airports.
