Traffic Police Chief Monitors Oversized Vehicles, Warns of Sanctions
The National Police’s Traffic Corps Chief (Kakorlantas) Irjen Agus Suryonugroho, accompanied by Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, visited the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Centre (JMTC) in Jatiasih, Bekasi. Irjen Agus revealed that CCTV monitoring has still detected oversized vehicles operating on toll roads.
“Based on monitoring by the Minister, the Jasa Marga Director, and our CCTV technology, we continue to find one or two oversized vehicles passing through,” said Irjen Agus at the JMTC on Saturday, 14 March 2026.
Irjen Agus stated that awareness campaigns would be conducted, with the possibility of firm enforcement action. Business operators were urged to refrain from deploying oversized trucks.
“Because Operation Ketupat is a humanitarian operation, safety and smooth traffic are aspects of service that we prioritise. We therefore appeal to business operators and logistics providers to temporarily cease operations of oversized or three-axle vehicles,” he said.
“The Minister has ordered strict enforcement. This means we may issue fines, confiscate vehicles, or impound them. We have prepared these alternatives,” he added.
During Operation Ketupat 2026, Irjen Agus emphasised that the operation extends beyond merely deploying traffic officers in the field—it is a humanitarian operation. Operation Ketupat 2026 carries the slogan ‘Safe Homecoming, Happy Family’.
“Operation Ketupat is not limited to traffic management; we are present, the state is present, to ensure that activities during the holy month of Ramadan, including Idul Fitri and Nyepi Day, proceed safely and smoothly,” he said.
Operation Ketupat 2026 is scheduled to run for two weeks, from 13 to 25 March 2026. During this homecoming period, Irjen Agus is also taking a humanistic approach to convey road safety messages through a song entitled ‘Orderly Homecoming, Don’t Rush’.
