Traffic Police Chief Invites Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers to Become Road Safety Pioneers
The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas), Inspector General Wibowo, received an audience from the National Online Motorcycle Taxi (Ojol) Community at the NTMC Korlantas Polri on Tuesday (11/8/2026). The meeting strengthened the synergy between the Traffic Corps and the ojol community in maintaining traffic security and safety.
During the audience, Inspector General Wibowo invited the ojol drivers to become road safety partners and assist the police in conveying information regarding road conditions. He noted that their daily activities on the road and constant interaction with the public give them a crucial role in supporting police traffic duties.
“Ojol drivers, aside from being transport workers, are also the face of public service because they interact extensively with the community. Just like us, the traffic function is the most visible and foremost police function,” he said.
Furthermore, drivers can utilise the 110 hotline to report incidents requiring police intervention. Information can also be channelled through the nearest police post. “Currently, the Chief of Police has opened the 110 hotline. Please, if you want to provide any information, it can be channelled through the 110 hotline or via the nearest police post,” he added.
Inspector General Wibowo urged ojol drivers to become safety pioneers by prioritising safety while working, for themselves, their passengers, the goods they carry, and other road users. “Our hope going forward is that you can become the first traffic safety partners, at least for yourselves and your colleagues,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Nusantara Ojol Association, Dianton, welcomed the synergy built with the Traffic Corps. He stated that this was the association’s third visit to the Traffic Corps. Dianton noted that the association now covers around 22 to 24 provinces with 2,477 registered members across Indonesia.
According to him, the association has always aimed to encourage ojol drivers to contribute to traffic safety, with various activities already conducted in the field. “Our aspiration from the beginning was to become road safety pioneering ambassadors. Our colleagues on the ground have already carried out many impactful activities, such as safety riding and first aid,” he said.
Dianton mentioned that the association is now awaiting direction from the Traffic Corps before officially declaring itself. After the declaration, the association is ready to take on a greater role in assisting the police to maintain road safety. “When the Nusantara Ojol Association is declared, we are ready to be at the forefront of assisting the police, especially the Traffic Corps,” Dianton stated.
Inspector General Wibowo added that the synergy between the Traffic Corps and the ojol community can be continuously strengthened so that ojol drivers are not just road users but also an integral part of building a traffic safety culture. He also expressed hope that the spirit of ‘Semua Karena Kita’ (All Because of Us) would serve as the foundation for collaboration among all parties in improving traffic safety in Indonesia.
