Traffic Police Chief Inspects West Java Toll Roads to Ensure Operation Ketupat 2026 Readiness
The Head of the National Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, together with representatives from various stakeholders, conducted an inspection of toll roads in the West Java region on Tuesday, 24th February. This effort was undertaken to ensure the readiness for the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026 in anticipation of the Lebaran homecoming traffic. The survey activities began in the morning with an inspection of the toll road from KM 01 to KM 188 of the Cikampek-Palimanan (Cipali) section. Inspector General Agus and his team also traversed the Cisumdawu Toll Road to ensure the readiness of road infrastructure and security checkpoints that will be used during the homecoming period. After the toll road inspection, the team continued their activities to the Cileunyi Post and received a briefing on preparedness from the Director of Traffic of the West Java Regional Police, the Head of Traffic of the Bandung City Police, the Head of Traffic of the Garut Regency Police, and the Head of Traffic of the Tasikmalaya Regency Police. They presented information regarding the security strategies for the Lebaran homecoming and return traffic in the West Java region. The Head of the National Traffic Corps explained that the survey was conducted to ensure the condition of the roads, the readiness of personnel, and that traffic management is running optimally before Operation Ketupat 2026 is implemented. “Today, we conducted a survey from KM 01 to KM 188 of Cipali, including passing through the Cisumdawu Toll Road to ensure the condition of the roads and the readiness of security checkpoints,” he said to the media. One of the main focuses of the inspection was the readiness of the vehicle checkpoint for homecoming travellers, which will be located at the Rest Area KM 81. Vehicle inspections will be carried out collaboratively, involving the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, the Indonesian National Police, and health officials. Passenger transport vehicles, such as buses and shuttle services, will be prioritized for inspection to ensure vehicle safety and the safety of travellers during the homecoming period. “This checkpoint is a cross-sector collaboration. Vehicles carrying homecoming travellers, especially buses, will be thoroughly inspected as a preventive measure for safety,” he said. In his presentation, the Head of the National Traffic Corps stated that the preparedness for Operation Ketupat 2026 is structured through five security clusters, namely the management of toll roads, the security of arterial and national roads, the security of crossings and transportation hubs, the security of places of worship, and the security of routes leading to tourist destinations. The Indonesian National Police Headquarters has also prepared security posts, service posts, and integrated posts at various strategic locations that have been mapped by regional units to ensure the smooth mobility of the public during the homecoming and return traffic periods. The Head of the National Traffic Corps added that the field survey will continue and will be concluded with a Tactical Floor Game as a security simulation to anticipate various potential vulnerabilities in the field. Based on the coordination with ministries and toll road operators, the ongoing infrastructure improvements are targeted to be completed no later than H-7 Lebaran, both on toll roads and arterial roads. “We ensure that toll roads and arterial roads are in a condition ready for homecoming travellers. This is a joint commitment to ensure that the public’s journey is safe and smooth,” he said. Vehicle inspections at the checkpoint will be carried out situationally, with priority given to public transportation on toll roads, especially buses and shuttle services, to prevent accidents and anticipate potential traffic congestion early on. Operation Ketupat 2026 carries the tagline ‘Safe Homecoming, Happy Family’ as an effort to provide a safe, comfortable, and secure homecoming journey for the Indonesian people. (hri/jbr)
