Traffic Police Chief Inspects TB Simatupang Excavation Causing Congestion

The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, accompanied by the Head of Operations of the National Police Traffic Corps, Commissioner Aries Syahbudin, conducted a field inspection following reports from residents regarding excavation projects causing severe congestion on Jalan TB Simatupang, East Jakarta.

During the inspection at the Pasar Rebo area heading towards South Jakarta on Thursday (4/6/2026), Inspector General Agus and his team checked the excavation site located at a crucial junction. He engaged in discussions with project workers to find the best solutions to ensure that construction work does not compromise traffic flow.

Inspector General Agus emphasised that this inspection is a direct response from the police to complaints from road users whose travel times have been hindered by lane narrowing. “The reason I am here is that we have received several complaints from road users regarding density and slowdowns,” the Inspector General told reporters at the location.

This field action is part of the preparations for Operation Patuh 2026, scheduled for 8–21 June. The National Police Traffic Corps is actively addressing factors that cause congestion and traffic violations, including side obstructions caused by infrastructure projects.

Inspector General Agus explained that the traffic disruption at that point was triggered by ongoing project work. However, he ensured that public grievances are being addressed with concrete on-site measures. “We are checking the field alongside the East Jakarta Traffic Police Chief. Specifically, on our left, there is a project by PT PAM/PDAM. Public complaints have been followed up with regulation and arrangement,” explained the Inspector General.

Through synergy between the East Jakarta Traffic Police and the project executors, the arrangement of the work area and the deployment of personnel for traffic engineering are being increased. This proactive step is expected to reduce lane slowdowns, aligning with the essence of Operation Patuh 2026, which promotes safe, orderly, and secure road usage.
