Traffic Police Chief Inspects Bocimi Functional Toll Road, Ready for 2026 Lebaran Exodus
National Traffic Police Corps (Korlantas Polri) chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, accompanied by senior Korlantas officials, conducted a direct inspection of the readiness of the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi (Bocimi) Functional Toll Road. The inspection was carried out as part of preparations for security arrangements during the Lebaran 1447 Hijriah holiday period.
The inspection on Thursday (19 February 2026) was aimed at anticipating surges in traffic flow and easing congestion on the national arterial road connecting the Bogor area with Sukabumi.
Inspector General Agus stated that the operation of the Bocimi Functional Toll Road Section 3, from Parung Kuda to Karang Tengah Exit, is expected to reduce traffic congestion from the Jakarta direction. Vehicles heading towards Palabuhan Ratu or Cibadak will be diverted to exit via the Parung Kuda Toll Exit (Km 72).
“Today we, together with senior officials and the West Java Traffic Directorate, directly checked the readiness of the route. We surveyed, particularly the Bocimi Toll Road which will be functionally operational from Cibadak to Karang Tengah. This 5-kilometre stretch is highly strategic for splitting traffic on the arterial/national road, specifically to avoid congestion at Cibadak Market,” he explained.
Additionally, vehicles from Jakarta heading towards Sukabumi City will be directed onto the functional toll road and exit at Karang Tengah Exit to continue their journey via the national road. This traffic engineering scheme enables road users to avoid congestion points expected to occur in Cibadak.
“Traffic from Jakarta heading to Sukabumi can be split into two streams, both through the arterial road and the functional toll road,” said Inspector General Agus.
He added that the functional toll road is expected to shorten travel times whilst simultaneously reducing the traffic burden on the national road.
Korlantas Polri, together with the West Java Regional Police Traffic Directorate, is also preparing traffic engineering measures at toll exit points leading to the national road. The traffic diversion scheme will be adjusted situationally in accordance with police discretion.
Meanwhile, PT Trans Jawa Barat President Director Abdul Hakim said the stretch has been prepared for functional operation to support public mobility, particularly during the peak Lebaran exodus and return flow.
“We are preparing approximately 5 kilometres from Parung Kuda to the end point exiting at Karang Tengah. At Karang Tengah, the exit connects to the national road, which has already passed several congestion points including Cibadak Market,” he said.
The operation of the Bocimi functional toll road is expected to facilitate public mobility whilst easing congestion at points prone to traffic jams in the Sukabumi area and its surroundings.
