Traffic Police Chief Ensures Conducive Conditions at Gilimanuk Port Ahead of Closure During Nyepi
The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Polri, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, stated that the traffic situation around Gilimanuk Port in Bali has become conducive ahead of the total closure during Nyepi Day 1948 Saka. Crossings to Gilimanuk from Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi have also been closed.
“From Gilimanuk, alhamdulillah, it’s already clear, no queues. Everything has entered the buffer zone. And at 17:00 WIB (Wednesday), I received a report from the East Java Police Traffic Director and the Provincial Police Chief who were at Ketapang. Access to Gilimanuk has been closed,” said Inspector General Agus at the Command Centre at Km 29 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, North Cikarang, early Thursday (19/3/2026).
The closure of access for the Gilimanuk-Ketapang crossing was implemented since Thursday (19/3) at 05:00 WIB. The closure is in place during the Nyepi celebrations.
“From Gilimanuk, it will be closed at 05:00 in the morning. So indeed, to celebrate Nyepi Day in Bali,” he explained.
Inspector General Agus described the conditions at other ports, such as Merak in Banten, which are also under control. The conditions in the two clusters of Operasi Ketupat 2026, he continued, are under control.
“Both ports are under control. We were at Merak until 04:00 this morning. So the crossing process from Merak to Bakauheni is quite controlled. And today, the closure from Ketapang to Gilimanuk,” he stated.
