Traffic Police Chief Embraces Bogor Ride-Hailing Community with Heart, Invites Them to Lead in Safety
“I have a big dream that as the National Traffic Police Chief of the Indonesian National Police, I am not proud to enforce the law. We are not happy to issue tickets. But we are proud when all of you become pioneers of safety, compliant with yourselves, obedient to yourselves regarding traffic,” said Irjen Agus on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
Also present at the event were the Head of Traffic Police of West Java Provincial Police, Kombes Raydian Kokrosono, and the Chief of Bogor City Police Resort, Kombes Rio Wahyu Anggoro.
Irjen Agus emphasised that the face of the Traffic Police has changed in line with the instructions from the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, to serve the community sincerely. He positioned the ride-hailing community not merely as road users, but as close friends and siblings to the Indonesian National Police institution.
In fact, Irjen Agus made an emotional statement that drew loud applause from the ride-hailing drivers.
“Don’t forget, when you might marry off your child later, please invite me. When there is time, I will prioritise attending. Because what is the message from Pak Kapolri, that online motorcycle taxis are the friends of the National Police. Online motorcycle taxis are the friends of the Traffic Police,” he said.
According to him, two-way communication and maintaining relations are the main keys to resolving various field issues. “The current Traffic Police approach is an approach with the heart. Maintaining relations, sitting together, discussing what traffic problems exist, because colleagues are always on the road,” he said.
While prioritising the humanistic side, Irjen Agus still delivered educational messages regarding riding safety in this agenda. He appreciated the discipline of ride-hailing drivers who have been assessed as compliant in using helmets, but he reminded them to avoid violations such as riding against the flow of traffic.
“We may live on straight roads, but we must not have accidents on straight roads. So obey, maintain traffic order, and prioritise safety. I entrust you all to truly become the heroes of safety on the road,” Irjen Agus stressed.
Regarding supervision, Irjen Agus mentioned that he will strengthen digital technology in the Bogor City area. “Not ticketing anymore, but there is ETLE. I will give ETLE to Pak Kapolresta so that ETLE can monitor all road users,” he added.
Besides traffic matters, Irjen Agus also assigned tasks to the ride-hailing drivers to help the National Police manage community security and public order (Harkamtibmas). Given their high mobility, they are expected to become the eyes and ears of the police in the field.
“You on the road can communicate with the National Police, can inform, and even you can also attend the first scene of incidents, whether accident scenes or perhaps criminal incidents,” Irjen Agus messaged to the hundreds of ride-hailing drivers present.
He closed the meeting with a prayer and hope that this synergy will continue to be maintained.
“The face of the National Police has changed now. The different face of the Traffic Police, maintaining relations, embracing the community, close to the community. We entrust you, hopefully you will accept us as the friends of Ojol,” he concluded.
