Jasa Marga has recorded an increase in traffic flow on the Mohammed Bin Zayed (MBZ) motorway as the Eid holiday exodus approaches. A total of 28,000 vehicles have departed Jakarta via the MBZ motorway.

According to traffic data from Jasa Marga released on Friday 13 March 2026, 28,040 vehicles left Jakarta via the MBZ toll road on Thursday 12 March. This represents an 18.87 per cent increase compared to normal traffic levels, which typically record 23,588 vehicles.

Meanwhile, vehicles travelling towards Jakarta numbered 24,387, marking an 11.71 per cent increase compared to normal traffic of 21,830 vehicles.

Overall, the total volume of vehicles crossing the MBZ toll road in both directions reached 52,427 vehicles. This data indicates increased vehicle mobility on the stretch ahead of the 2026 Eid holiday exodus period.

Peak Eid Exodus Forecast

Infrastructure and Regional Development Coordinating Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) previously disclosed that 143.9 million people are expected to travel during this year’s Eid holiday exodus. Public mobility is concentrated towards Central Java, East Java and West Java.

“First, regarding the Eid holiday travel trend. Based on a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transport, it is estimated that there will be 143.9 million trips or people undertaking the Eid exodus. Looking at destinations, the largest number of people will travel towards Central Java and East Java, followed by West Java, Yogyakarta, and South Sulawesi,” said AHY during a press conference at Bina Graha Building, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday 11 March.

AHY also indicated that the peak exodus is predicted to occur in two waves: on 14-15 March and 18-19 March.

“For the return journey, the peak is estimated to fall on 24 and 25 March, and the second peak on 28 and 29 March.”
