Vehicle traffic crossing the Cikopo–Palimanan (Cipali) toll road section in West Java towards Jakarta experienced a significant surge on Tuesday (24/3) morning. This increase in vehicle volume was higher compared to the same period the previous day. Sustainability Management & Corporate Communications Dept. Head of Astra Tol Cipali, Ardam Rafif Trisilo, stated that based on data from 00:00 WIB to 09:00 WIB, one-way traffic towards Jakarta was monitored as busy but still smooth. During that time frame, around 36,000 vehicles had crossed the Cipali toll road towards Jakarta from early morning until morning. “The number of vehicles passing towards Jakarta is 167 percent higher than the same period the previous day,” said Ardam Rafif in his statement on Tuesday (24/3). Overall, traffic volume in both directions, both towards Jakarta and towards Cirebon, also experienced an increase. The total number of vehicles recorded rose by 36 percent compared to the same period the previous day. Facing this surge in return traffic, Astra Tol Cipali advised road users to continue prioritising safety. Drivers were asked to maintain safe distances, comply with signs and instructions from officers during traffic engineering implementations. In addition, road users were reminded not to change lanes when the one-way system is in effect. “Changing lanes during one-way is very dangerous. We also advise against stopping on the roadside except in emergencies,” he said. Drivers were advised to utilise the available rest areas for breaks. If parking capacity is full, road users can exit the toll road and rest near the nearest toll gate without incurring additional fees, as the toll system is still calculated based on distance travelled. Along the Cipali toll road, several rest areas are available, including KM 86, KM 102, KM 130A, and KM 166 for the direction to Cirebon. Meanwhile, for the direction to Jakarta, rest areas are located at KM 164, KM 130B, KM 101, and a functional rest area at KM 77.
