Traffic Officer Killed by Truck on Joglo Toll Road, Driver Detained
A member of the Polda Metro Jaya Highway Patrol, Aipda Endang Karyana, died following a traffic incident while on duty on the Joglo Toll Road heading towards Pondok Pinang on Friday (3/7). The Head of the Traffic Directorate’s Highway Patrol Unit, AKBP Rieki Indra Brata Manggala, explained that the incident occurred at around 10:50 a.m. Western Indonesia Time. He stated that the victim was providing assistance to the driver of a light truck with police number AD 8974 WW that had broken down. While the officer was helping, another vehicle approached from the direction of Tangerang and collided with the stationary truck. An Isuzu Wing Box vehicle with police number B 9663 TXW struck the rear tyre of the light truck, causing it to be pushed to the left and hit Aipda Endang Karyana. The victim sustained severe injuries, particularly to his right leg, and was immediately evacuated to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for medical treatment. However, he could not be saved and was pronounced dead by the medical team at 3:11 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. The Head of the West Jakarta Police Traffic Unit, Kompol Reza Hafiz Gumilang, confirmed that the driver of the Isuzu box truck has been detained for legal proceedings. He stated that the driver was drowsy, which caused him to hit the light truck that had broken down.
