Traffic Management on Puncak Highway During Long Weekend

According to Bogor Traffic Police Chief AKP Afif Widhi Ananto, approximately 120,000 vehicles ascended towards Puncak during the long weekend. As of Sunday (May 17, 2026), around 100,000 vehicles had descended. The peak traffic occurred on Thursday, May 14th, with 45,000 vehicles entering the Puncak area, a 14% increase compared to regular weekends.

The return traffic peaked on Saturday, May 16th, with 45,000 vehicles heading towards Jakarta. Despite this, the Bogor Traffic Police remained vigilant and implemented situational one-way traffic systems to facilitate tourists returning to Jakarta.

“Based on our data from yesterday, Saturday, approximately 44,000 vehicles descended from Puncak towards Jakarta. Therefore, it’s possible that the peak return traffic occurred yesterday,” said Afif.

“In essence, there is still a difference between the number of vehicles ascending and descending. Therefore, we remain on standby and prioritize assisting those who have completed their holidays through the one-way traffic system that we implement situationally,” he added.

The Bogor Traffic Police implemented a one-way traffic system towards Jakarta on Sunday afternoon on the Puncak highway in West Java to prioritize the flow of vehicles carrying tourists returning from their holidays.
