Traffic in Bandung

I make daily trips between Padalarang, Cimahi and Bandung for
my work. Despite the introduction of the new traffic law a few
years ago, the traffic situation has not improved, especially in
the greater Bandung area.

It may be due to the non-functioning of traffic lights at a
number of strategic spots, such as the access to the Padalarang
toll road/Jl. Raya Cimahi/Jl. Gatot Subroto three-way
intersection.

Many civilian and military top brass pass these roads weekly
but none of them appear to feel called upon to effect change in
the situation.

It is ironical that while Bandung is called the center of
technology (on account of the presence of the Bandung Institute
of Technology) and a center of sophisticated aircraft manufacture
(IPTN) the regulation of its traffic lights is poor.
