Traffic Gridlock in Kuningan Towards Tendean, South Jakarta, Due to Dismantling of Footbridge Hit by Truck

Traffic in the Kuningan area of South Jakarta was gridlocked this afternoon. The congestion was caused by the dismantling of a pedestrian footbridge (JPO) that was nearly destroyed after being hit by a truck on Jalan Kapten Tendean. Observations at the scene on Tuesday (14/7/2026) at 14.56 WIB showed that the traffic jam began near the Patra Kuningan bus stop in South Jakarta, with a long queue of four-wheeled vehicles stretching into the distance. The congestion only affected the right-hand lane heading towards Tendean, while traffic in the left-hand lane towards Pancoran was observed to be flowing smoothly. The JPO on Jalan Kapten Tendean was rendered unusable after being struck by a heavy equipment transporter truck that failed to pass safely. The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that the incident occurred early this morning at 00.30 WIB, resulting from the truck driver’s lack of caution. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government subsequently began dismantling the footbridge, leading to the temporary closure of Jalan Tendean and the diversion of traffic flow.
