Traffic Gridlock as Tendean Footbridge Demolition Delays TransJakarta Corridor 13

TransJakarta’s route 13B service experienced delays on Tuesday afternoon due to traffic congestion caused by the demolition of a pedestrian footbridge (JPO) on Jalan Kapten Tendean in South Jakarta. The public bus operator announced via its official social media channels that the arrival of buses on the 13B route was delayed because of heavy traffic around the demolition site. TransJakarta advised passengers to anticipate longer travel times and to monitor service updates through official information channels, while also urging caution when passing near the work area. The demolition process, which followed an earlier collision involving a truck, led to widespread gridlock during the evening rush hour. Traffic monitoring applications showed standstill conditions marked in red from the Kuningan intersection to the Semanggi Interchange, with congestion also spreading to Jalan Rasuna Said, Jalan Pasar Minggu, the SCBD district, and Jalan Jenderal Sudirman. Kompol Robby Hefados, Head of Binopsnal at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Traffic Directorate, confirmed that traffic on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin heading south was being managed with traffic control measures, and that the exit from SCBD towards Jalan Suryo was also heavily affected by the ongoing evacuation and demolition work.
