Traffic Flow on Cipali Toll Road Towards Cirebon Sees Significant Increase
Subang (ANTARA) - The operator of the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road recorded a significant increase in vehicle traffic heading towards Cirebon and surrounding areas on H-3 before Eid al-Fitr, which fell on Wednesday.
Sustainability Management & Corporate Communications Department Head of Astra Tol Cipali, Ardam Rafif Trisilo, stated in Subang, West Java, that based on data from 00:00 WIB to 09:00 WIB, approximately 47,000 vehicles had passed through the Cipali toll road section from Jakarta towards Cirebon.
This traffic volume was far higher, by about 97 percent, compared to the same period on the previous day, with an average of 5,300 vehicles passing per hour.
To avoid slowing down traffic flow and as an effort to maintain collective safety, Astra Tol Cipali urged all road users not to stop on the road shoulder except in emergency conditions.
Road users are advised to rest at the nearest rest area or can utilise rest facilities outside the nearest toll gate if the parking capacity is full.
With the closed transaction system, he said, toll fees will remain the same even if road users exit and re-enter the toll road to rest outside the toll road area.
For road users resting at rest areas, they are urged to limit rest time to a maximum of 30 minutes, so that rest area facilities can be used alternately.
The one-way traffic engineering phase I was officially implemented on the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road section on Tuesday afternoon (17/3).
The one-way system was applied to anticipate the increase in traffic volume that could trigger congestion from the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road to Cipali.
Ardam stated that the one-way traffic engineering was officially enforced on the Cipali toll road from KM 72 to KM 188 on Tuesday (17/3) at 15:21 WIB.
The implementation of this one-way system is part of the one-way traffic engineering phase I from KM 70 (Jakarta–Cikampek toll road section) to KM 263 (Pejagan–Pemalang toll road).
