Traffic Engineering Trial on Denpasar's Hang Tuah Road Extended to 16-30 June

The Bali Transportation Agency (Dishub) has extended the trial period for traffic engineering at two intersections on Jalan Hang Tuah, East Denpasar, from 16 to 30 June 2026. Head of Dishub Bali I Kadek Mudarta stated the extension was necessary because more time is required to familiarise motorists with the changes.

“The consideration for the extension is that a longer period is needed to continue socialising and observe changes in driving habits in accordance with the engineering measures being implemented,” Mudarta said on Monday (15/6/2026).

He also observed that during the first phase of the trial, which began on 2 June and ran until 15 June, the trend of driver compliance had started to improve. “There is an improving trend in motorist compliance with the traffic arrangements that have been put in place,” he said.

Mudarta expressed hope that passing motorists would adhere to the traffic changes. For context, Dishub Bali commenced the traffic engineering trial at two intersections on Jalan Hang Tuah on 2 June.

The two intersections are the Jalan Sedap Malam junction and the Jalan Danau Beratan junction. At the Jalan Sedap Malam junction, motorists coming from the west wishing to turn into Jalan Sedap Malam are directed to use the far-left lane, while those continuing straight towards the east may use the middle lane. Motorists from both the west and east are prohibited from turning towards Tukad Nyali, except for motorcycles.

Meanwhile, at the Jalan Danau Beratan junction, motorists coming from Jalan Hang Tuah are prohibited from turning right towards Jalan Danau Beratan and are directed to make a U-turn at the Sanur junction. Additionally, motorists from Jalan Danau Beratan are prohibited from turning right towards the east in the direction of Sanur and are directed to proceed via Jalan Danau Buyan.
