Traffic engineering in front of North Jakarta Prosecutor's Office becomes permanent

The North Jakarta Transportation Sub-Agency (Sudinhub) has permanently implemented traffic engineering in front of the North Jakarta District Attorney’s Office on Jalan Yos Sudarso, installing barriers to divide the road into three lanes.

North Jakarta’s Transportation Sub-Agency previously conducted a one-week trial of this traffic scheme to prevent motorcyclists from driving against the direction of traffic.

“We will establish this lane permanently. However, in the near future, we are preparing all the necessary equipment,” said the Head of the Transportation Sub-Agency, Rudy Saptari, in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Rudy stated that the one-week trial involved dividing the road into three lanes: the first lane for vehicles exiting the Plumpang toll ramp from the direction of Kelapa Gading towards the North Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office; the second lane for vehicles travelling from Kelapa Gading towards Tanjung Priok Port; and the third lane for vehicles wishing to turn around towards Plumpang and back to Kelapa Gading.

“The results were positive, and we observed that there are no longer any motorcycles driving against the direction on that road to cut through towards Plumpang Semper,” said Rudy.

He added that the agency will soon install concrete barriers to make the arrangement permanent and add road markings to assist drivers. Additionally, to anticipate traffic risks at night, they will install road studs (cat’s eyes) around the area to make the road markings more visible.

“We will make it permanent in the near future because, so far, this engineering has become a solution for congestion and prevents the frequent occurrence of wrong-way driving violations at this location,” he said.

Previously, the North Jakarta Transportation Sub-Agency extended road barriers on Jalan Yos Sudarso, specifically in front of the North Jakarta District Attorney’s Office, as part of the traffic engineering implemented in the area.
