Traffic Diverted on Gatot Subroto to Mampang Prapatan After Truck Strikes Footbridge

Traffic from Jalan Gatot Subroto heading towards Mampang Prapatan was diverted on Tuesday afternoon due to the dismantling of a pedestrian bridge (JPO) that was nearly collapsing after being struck by a truck on Jalan Kapten Tendean, South Jakarta. Based on observations up to 3:35 p.m. WIB, access from Jalan Gatot Subroto towards Mampang Prapatan was diverted at the Kuningan intersection. Vehicles were redirected towards the Kuningan area, with the road towards Mampang Prapatan closed using barriers. Motorists could not turn right directly towards Mampang from the Kuningan intersection. Drivers were directed to turn left onto Jalan HR Rasuna Said, then make a U-turn to reach Mampang Prapatan. Additionally, motorists on Jalan Gatot Subroto from the Pancoran direction were also unable to turn left directly into Mampang. Barriers were seen blocking three access roads towards Mampang Prapatan at the Kuningan intersection. Traffic around the Kuningan intersection was observed to be congested. Police and Transjakarta officers were seen managing the traffic. Meanwhile, up to 3:56 p.m. WIB, efforts to dismantle the pedestrian bridge struck by the truck on Jalan Kapten Tendean were still underway. The road was closed in both directions. ‘The current situation on Jl. Kapten Tendean due to the pedestrian bridge being hit by a truck is still in the process of being cut down. Motorists are advised to find alternative routes,’ wrote the Traffic Management Centre of the Metro Jaya Regional Police via their X account. Previously, the pedestrian bridge on Jalan Kapten Tendean, South Jakarta, was nearly collapsing after being hit by a truck carrying heavy equipment, or a crane. From a preliminary examination by officers, it is suspected that at the time of the incident, the truck driver was using a mobile phone. The truck has been evacuated. However, because the bridge was nearly collapsing and posed a danger, it was ultimately dismantled. ‘Our handling from Bina Marga is that we will first dismantle this pedestrian bridge. Because we see that the foundation on this side, the pillar, has already come loose. We have no choice but to remove it. The removal also cannot be partial; it must be entire. Because, you know, we do not have a support in the middle,’ said Head of the Bina Marga Sub-department, Rifki Rismal, to reporters on Tuesday.
