Traffic Diverted in Central Jakarta's Kemayoran Gempol Road After Major Fire
A major fire has broken out in a residential area along Jalan Kemayoran Gempol in Kebon Kosong Village, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. Traffic in the vicinity of the incident has been temporarily diverted.
“A fire occurred at Jalan Kemayoran Gempol RT 02/RW 05, Kebon Kosong Village, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. Traffic is currently being diverted,” the Traffic Management Center of Jakarta Metropolitan Police wrote on social media platform X on Monday, June 1, 2026.
Police officers have closed sections of the road to redirect traffic around the fire site. Firefighters are containing the blaze to prevent it from spreading to adjacent buildings.
DKI Jakarta’s Gulkarmat Head, Bayu Meghantara, stated that 33 joint firefighting units and 100 personnel have been deployed to the scene.
“The fire report was received by officers at 8:55 PM WIB,” Bayu told Antara on Monday.
Firefighters arrived at the location near Masjid Jami’ Al Ikhlas at 9:05 PM WIB and immediately began firefighting operations.
“The current situation is still in the firefighting process (red status). Field officers are continuing efforts to contain the fire as the spread is highly possible,” Bayu said.
The cause of the fire and the extent of material damage in the low-rise buildings remain unknown.
Authorities are focusing on extinguishing the fire in the residential area to prevent it from spreading to surrounding buildings.
