Traffic Diversions in Place for Independence Day Celebrations at Monas and Bundaran HI
The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has prepared traffic engineering measures for the evening celebration of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. A total of 18 road sections will be affected by situational traffic diversions.
The evening celebration will take place from 19:00 WIB to 23:00 WIB on Monday, 17 August 2026. One of the event’s highlights is a decorated vehicle carnival.
The decorated vehicle carnival route starts from Jalan Siliwangi, Merdeka Daya Barat-Monas as the starting point. The procession will then move towards Jalan MH Thamrin east side, Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI), Jalan Jenderal Sudirman east side, Jalan Galunggung, and finish at Taman Dukuh Atas Skatepark.
Dishub DKI stated there are three Harmoni Nusantara stage locations along the carnival route, namely the National Monument (Monas), Sarinah, and Bundaran HI. To support the event, traffic diversions will be implemented situationally from 19:00 to 23:00 WIB.
The following 18 road locations will be affected:
Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, from the Karet Pasar Baru Timur III intersection to Bundaran HI.
Jalan MH Thamrin, from Bundaran HI to the Patung Kuda roundabout.
Jalan Kuningan BNI 46.
Jalan Kota Bumi and Jalan Baturaja.
Jalan Teluk Betung.
Jalan Kebon Kacang.
Jalan Sunda.
Jalan Imam Bonjol.
Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat.
Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara.
Jalan Veteran I.
Jalan Veteran II.
Jalan Veteran III.
Jalan Majapahit east side, northbound to southbound.
Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan.
Jalan Budi Kemuliaan.

The intersection of Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan and Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais.
Dishub DKI has also prepared several alternative routes for motorists during the diversions. Motorists from Harmoni heading to Tugu Tani can use Jalan Ir H Juanda, Jalan Pos, Jalan Gedung Kesenian, Jalan Lapangan Banteng Utara, Jalan Taman Pejambon, Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur, to Jalan MI Ridwan Rais.
Meanwhile, motorists from Harmoni heading to Kuningan can pass through Jalan Suryopranoto, Jalan Balikpapan, Jalan Cideng Timur, Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, Jalan Prof Dr Satrio, and so on.
From Tugu Tani to Harmoni, motorists can use Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais, Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur, Jalan Perwira, Jalan Katedral, Jalan Ir H Juanda, and so on.
Vehicles from Menteng heading to Tanah Abang can use Jalan Imam Bonjol, Jalan H Agus Salim, Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim, Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, and so on.
Motorists from Manggarai heading to Tanah Abang can use Jalan Galunggung, Jalan Karet Pasar Baru Timur III, Jalan Karet Pasar Baru Timur II, Jalan RM Margono Djojohadikoesoemo, Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, and so on.
Dishub DKI urges the public who will be passing around the event locations to pay attention to the traffic engineering, adjust their travel routes, obey traffic signs, and follow directions from officers in the field.
With the decorated vehicle carnival and other evening Independence Day activities, motorists are advised to avoid the Sudirman-Thamrin area up to around Monas and adjust their journeys on the evening of 17 August 2026.
