Traffic diversion routes during Jakarta LRT inauguration
The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has prepared situational traffic management around Manggarai LRT Station ahead of the operational inauguration of the Jakarta Integrated Raya Lintas (LRT) Kelapa Gading–Manggarai route on Wednesday (26/8).
The arrangement is intended to anticipate congestion and ensure public mobility continues to run smoothly during the inauguration, which is scheduled to take place from 09:00 to 11:00 WIB.
“Traffic management will be implemented situationally around the Manggarai LRT Station area during the inauguration,” said Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency Budi Awaluddin in Jakarta on Tuesday (25/8).
Budi said the traffic management is necessary to maintain safety and the smooth movement of vehicles and the public around the event location.
Nevertheless, access for residents and office activities in the area will continue as normal. Road users are asked to adjust their journeys to traffic conditions and follow the directions of officers.
Situational arrangements on Jalan Minangkabau Timur will be implemented earlier, starting from 07:00 to 11:00 WIB.
A number of vehicle routes will be changed during the traffic management.
Vehicles heading from the south of Tebet towards the east or the Proklamasi area that usually pass through Jalan Minangkabau Timur will be diverted via Jalan Minangkabau Barat–the south side of Jalan Sultan Agung.
Vehicles will then be directed to make a U-turn at the Pasar Rumput U-turn, then continue via the north side of Jalan Sultan Agung, Jalan Tambak, and so on.
For vehicles coming from the west or Dukuh Atas heading south to Tebet or the Proklamasi area, traffic will be diverted via Jalan Galunggung–Jalan Sultan Agung–Jalan Tambak.
From Jalan Tambak, vehicles can continue straight towards the Proklamasi area. Meanwhile, vehicles heading to Tebet can make a U-turn in front of RSIA Tambak.
As for vehicles from the east of the Proklamasi area heading west or Dukuh Atas, they will be diverted via Jalan Tambak–Jalan Dr. Sahardjo.
Vehicles will then be directed to make a U-turn in front of Toba Tabo, then pass through Jalan Sahardjo–Jalan Minangkabau Barat–Jalan Sultan Agung and continue their journey according to their destination.
The Jakarta Transportation Agency has also provided special parking for invited guests in the area behind Pasaraya Manggarai during the inauguration.
Members of the public who will pass around the event location are advised to take travel time into account and adjust their routes to anticipate changes in traffic flow.
“We hope motorists and the public pay attention to the signs and follow the directions of officers in the field,” he said.
