JAKARTA – Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) predicts a significant potential for movement in the Lebaran 2026 return flow this afternoon, Saturday (28/3). This was stated by the Head of Korlantas Polri, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, based on traffic counting data, where only around 78% of vehicles have returned towards Jakarta. This means approximately 22% of vehicles are estimated to move during the weekend. To anticipate this surge, Korlantas has prepared several traffic engineering scenarios. One of them is the implementation of the advanced one-way phase, from phase 1 to phase 3, which will be adjusted to field conditions. It is even possible that the national one-way phase two will be applied if there is a significant increase in flow. “We are observing the situation on the ground. If there is a significant increase, we do not rule out the implementation of national one-way phase two,” he said. This scheme is prepared to ensure that vehicle flow from East Java, Central Java, Greater Solo, to Yogyakarta remains smooth towards Jakarta, without causing excessive density on the Trans-Java Toll Road sections. In addition, Korlantas is also anticipating vehicle movement from the West Java region, which is still quite substantial. To ease congestion, alternative routes such as the Japek II South Functional Toll will continue to be optimised to disperse the concentration of flow towards Cikampek. Korlantas emphasises that it will continue to monitor developments on the ground in real time, especially during the critical Saturday afternoon and Sunday periods, to determine the most effective traffic engineering steps.
