Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) will escort the movement of workers from West Java to Jakarta during the Labour Day commemoration (May Day) on Friday (1/5) tomorrow.

Head of Korlantas Polri, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, stated in Jakarta on Thursday that the workers from West Java are divided into three groups heading to the National Monument (Monas), the House of Representatives (DPR RI) building, and the Danantara area in Jakarta.

All movements have been coordinated and will receive escort from officers.

In addition, the distribution of vehicles and crowds has been arranged systematically, including the provision of colour-coded stickers on each bus group based on their origin.

“From Central Java, it will be yellow; East Java red; West Java blue; and Banten green. This is to facilitate escorting in the field,” he said.

He added that coordination has also been conducted with Jasa Marga to ensure smooth traffic flow during the departure process until arrival at the destinations.

Based on data from the Sukabumi Police Resort jurisdiction, the total number of workers departing is 4,750 people with 95 buses.

The groups come from various labour unions, including the All-Indonesian Workers’ Union (SPSI) with 1,550 people and 31 buses, and the All-Indonesian Labour Confederation (KSBSI) with 850 people and 17 buses.

Additionally, there are around 350 workers from the DPC SPN (Branch Leadership Council of the National Workers’ Union) heading to Danantara using 6 buses. Meanwhile, from other groups in the Sukabumi Police Resort area, there are about 2,000 people with 40 buses.

The gathering points for the crowds are spread across several locations, such as the Cigombong Toll Exit, Parungkuda Toll Exit, and several company areas in Sukabumi.

The majority of the groups began gathering from 02:00 WIB and are scheduled to depart in stages starting from 03:00 WIB.
