Traffic Corps Targets Reduction in Accident Rates

The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the Indonesian National Police is partnering with PT Jasa Raharja to improve public services and reduce accident rates. This was conveyed by Head of Korlantas Polri, Inspector General Wibowo, during an audience with PT Jasa Raharja officials at the NTMC Korlantas Polri Building on Wednesday (29/7). The meeting was also attended by PT Jasa Raharja’s President Commissioner Aan Suhanan and President Director Muhammad Awaluddin. In his remarks, Wibowo stated that cooperation between Korlantas Polri and Jasa Raharja has been closely established through various programmes, particularly those related to traffic services. “This activity, besides being a forum for maintaining the good relations that have been built, is also intended for us to re-synergise and collaborate on several overlapping duties between Korlantas Polri and Jasa Raharja. Especially in the field of Samsat services, as well as in handling traffic accidents,” he said in a written statement on Wednesday (29/7). Wibowo noted that the collaboration between the two institutions does not only focus on motor vehicle administration services through Samsat, but also on efforts to reduce accident rates and victim fatalities on the roads. One of the steps taken has been to provide convenience in paying motor vehicle taxes. This convenience is implemented through policies that maintain legal certainty while increasing public compliance. “The use of digital transformation is not just about moving services from a counter to an application, but it must truly accelerate service delivery to the public,” Wibowo said. On the occasion, Wibowo also highlighted the importance of preventive efforts to reduce traffic accident rates. He argued that the increasing population and public activity will impact the growing use of transportation modes. Therefore, collaborative measures are needed to anticipate potential disruptions to traffic security, safety, order, and smooth flow. “For us, traffic accidents are not fate. They are things that we can actually prevent by changing driving habits and building traffic ethics. This is a step that we must address together,” he said.
