REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIKAMPEK – The Chief of the National Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, has once again requested that owners and drivers of three-axle trucks comply with the operational restrictions regulated in the Joint Decree (SKB) during the Lebaran 2026 return flow period. This appeal was made amid police efforts to maintain smooth vehicle flow towards Jakarta.

Agus stated that compliance with the three-axle restrictions is an important part of traffic management during the peak return flow. According to him, the policy is necessary to prevent arterial routes and toll roads from becoming even more burdened when private vehicles and passenger transport move simultaneously towards the western region.

“Once again, I humbly request that this SKB be truly adhered to for the benefit of our fellow citizens returning home,” said the Traffic Corps Chief at the Rest Area KM 62 on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, Saturday (28/3/2026) night WIB.

Agus assessed that, so far, the regulation of three-axle vehicles has been carried out intensively by officers in the field. However, there are still some violations detected. Therefore, enforcement leading to traffic violation tickets becomes a solution option.

He continued that the action against three-axle vehicles is not merely law enforcement, but also part of the strategy to maintain space for holiday returnees’ vehicles. The restrictions, he said, help reduce the potential for slowdowns at congestion-prone points during the return flow.

“Thank you also to all members who last night did not rest to monitor, enforce, and strengthen, especially for three-axle vehicles,” said Agus.

At the same time, the Traffic Corps is still maintaining the second stage of local one-way on the toll road from KM 263 to KM 70. A one-lane contraflow engineering from KM 70 to KM 55 towards Jakarta is also still in effect because the flow of vehicles to the Capital is still quite dense until night.

Agus said that arterial routes remain the main focus because vehicle movement from southern regions and supporting areas is still high. Therefore, compliance with the three-axle rules is considered important to keep traffic distribution outside toll roads maintained.

“Arterials are indeed quite dense, but we have managed them well,” said the two-star general.

Agus added that the return flow conditions from Bakauheni to Merak are also under control without significant build-up. This monitoring result shifts the security focus to arterial corridors, including arrangements on the Pantura route, southern route, and connectivity to main toll roads.

Amid this management, the Traffic Corps is also preparing additional intervention options if on Sunday (29/3/2026) there is a surge in vehicle flow from the east or south. The police even open the possibility of implementing the third stage of local one-way if vehicle volume increases significantly.

Agus emphasised that traffic arrangements during the return flow will continue to be adjusted to developments in the field. The regulation of three-axle trucks, arterial oversight, and engineering on toll roads are maintained to ensure the journey of returnees to Jakarta remains smooth and safe.
