JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) is preparing several traffic engineering scenarios to anticipate the surge in return traffic for Eid 2026.

Head of Korlantas Polri, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, stated that they have begun preparing vehicle flow regulations.

“For the return flow, as it will be quite high, we will prepare starting from the 24th. On the 24th, we will prepare for the return flow, including traffic management scenarios,” said Agus at Polda Metro Jaya on Friday (20/3/2026).

He explained that the scenarios include various traffic regulation steps that will be implemented situationally based on field conditions.

“The one-way mudik route has already been closed because traffic accounting or flow has returned to normal, so it was closed at 14:22 by the Chief of Police,” he said.

Korlantas is also anticipating the possibility of two waves of return traffic, in line with the government’s Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy.

“With work from anywhere, there might also be a second return wave on the 28th and 29th (March). We have prepared this with stakeholders for traffic engineering,” he said.

“So this year is quite different; if we compare, there was an increase in mudik flow of 270,000 compared to last year 2025, an increase of 4.62%,” he added.
