Traffic Corps Prepares Enforcement Strategy for Zero ODOL 2027
JAKARTA – The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps is beginning to prepare strategic steps for enforcing vehicles that exceed dimensions and load capacity (ODOL) as part of the Zero Over Dimension and Overload 2027 programme.
The Traffic Corps Chief, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, stated that efforts to handle ODOL trucks require thorough preparation and cross-sector collaboration to ensure effective implementation in the field.
According to the Traffic Corps Chief, these steps follow the directives of the National Police Chief, Listyo Sigit Prabowo, in supporting the Zero ODOL 2027 target.
Agus added that law enforcement against vehicles exceeding dimensions and load capacity cannot be done instantly.
It requires stages from educating business actors, disseminating regulations, to coordinating with ministries and related stakeholders so that the policy does not create resistance in the field.
Handling ODOL vehicles is considered a major task because it directly relates to the transportation, logistics, road infrastructure, and safety of other road users sectors.
Trucks with excessive dimensions or loads have long been frequent causes of road damage and increased traffic accident risks.
In addition to focusing on enforcement, the programme is also part of efforts to improve security, safety, order, and traffic flow in Indonesia.
With thorough preparation from now, the Traffic Corps hopes that the implementation of the policy towards Zero Over Dimension and Overload 2027 can run optimally while encouraging a culture of orderly traffic among the public.
