National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho conducted an inspection of the Bocimi Toll Road in West Java in connection with this year’s Eid mudik (exodus) and return traffic flows.

He said the toll road includes a 5-kilometre functional section that will help divert traffic from arterial roads. The functional route in question runs from Cibadak to Karang Tengah.

“During the mudik and return flows, traffic from Jakarta heading to Sukabumi can be split into two streams — both via the arterial road and the functional section,” Agus said during the inspection on Friday (20 February).

He described the functional route as highly strategic due to its capacity to distribute traffic. Agus confirmed that the functional section of the Bocimi Toll Road will be ready for use during the Eid mudik period.

State-owned toll road operator PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk estimates that 3.6 million vehicles will leave the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area during the 2026 Eid mudik period. Of that total, approximately 50 per cent of vehicles are predicted to flow towards the Trans-Java corridor and Bandung.

Jasa Marga president director Rivan Achmad Purwantono said the 3.6 million figure is based on predictions using camera monitoring and intelligent traffic analysis managed by the company.

“This prediction, with the mature media tools we employ, relies on cameras that we manage ourselves, enhanced with intelligent traffic analysis, so the figures are accurate. These are then cross-referenced with radar units deployed across the network, and assessed against historical trends,” Rivan said during a CNN Indonesia Newsroom programme.
