Jakarta, VIVA – Irjen Agus Suryonugroho, the Chief of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas Polri), has urged all ranks within the Traffic Directorate across Indonesia to continue safeguarding the dignity and positive image of traffic police through professional and humane public services. This directive, according to Kakorlantas, aligns with instructions from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. Irjen Agus conveyed this during a briefing to Korlantas Polri personnel on strengthening public services and adopting a humane approach towards the community. He stated that transforming the face of traffic police for the better must be an ongoing effort, both in field operational services and administrative services to the public. “How can we maintain the good dignity of traffic police, transform the face of traffic police for the better, and reflect good public services in operational fields as well as other administrative areas,” said Agus. He stressed that all Traffic Directors in the regions must be capable of managing personnel effectively so that traffic police services become increasingly professional and trusted by the public. Agus also assessed that the humane approach currently implemented by traffic police ranks has received positive responses from the community, including online motorcycle taxi communities. “I feel that the current traffic police approach is not using fines, but using the heart,” he said. Furthermore, Kakorlantas emphasised that the presence of traffic police must be able to deliver real impacts in building a culture of traffic discipline while increasing public trust in the National Police institution. According to him, good services, humane communication, and strategic partnerships with various community elements are important parts of building a positive image for the Traffic Corps. He hopes that all ranks will continue to present traffic police who are close to the community through the spirit of greeting with the heart and serving with actions to realise traffic security, safety, order, and smoothness.
