Jakarta, VIVA – Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the Indonesian National Police, Irjen Agus Suryonugroho, emphasised the importance of a humanistic approach and digital transformation in traffic management duties. In his address, Agus praised the Traffic Directorate for actively building communication and closeness with the public, including online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers and various road communities. ‘I am grateful to my colleagues in the Traffic Directorate for managing this. Embrace the ojol drivers, embrace the communities, invite them for dialogue, and in the future, we will establish the Nusantara Ojol Association,’ Agus said. He stated that ojol drivers are a vital part of the community who are on the roads daily and can serve as strategic partners in maintaining traffic safety and order. ‘These are our brothers and sisters who are always on the road, able to provide information and engage in discussions. Alhamdulillah, when I go out into the field, everyone is proud because we embrace them,’ Agus said. The Traffic Police’s approach is no longer solely focused on issuing tickets or law enforcement, but on building rapport and closeness with the public. ‘Our approach is not just about tickets or law enforcement, but a heart-based approach. You must be close to the public, embrace them. When they feel embraced and engaged in dialogue, they will feel ashamed to commit violations,’ he added.
